Mauritius Weather (Dec 15): Morning Rain, Breezy Conditions, and a Sunny Afternoon

Today marks 40 years since the passing of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam (SSR), and the island wakes up to a day filled with tropical showers and gusty winds.

Last night brought heavy rainfall to northern Mauritius, with continued showers this morning across Pamplemousses, Pointe aux Piments, Piton, Poudre d’Or, Goodlands, Grand Gaube, and Grand Baie between 5:20 a.m. and 6:20 a.m.

Low and mid-level clouds from the southeast will continue to influence the weather in Mauritius today. Rain will persist off and on until about 9 a.m., followed by gradual improvement during the late morning. Winds will remain strong from the southeast, averaging 35 km/h.

By 2 p.m., rainfall will ease significantly across much of the island, though high clouds will continue to linger, especially over the central plateau.

The sea remains rough, with waves reaching 1.2 meters along the west coast, 1.8 meters in the north, and up to 2.8 meters along the east and south.
High tide: 9:56 and 22:40
Low tide: 3:26 and 16:33
